Safe for pets and kids?
The questions families ask us before every treatment, answered plainly.
Is pest control safe for pets and kids?
Yes, when it's done properly. We use products registered for use around homes, apply them where pests travel rather than where people touch, and tell you how long to keep children and pets away from treated areas. For most indoor treatments that's until the surfaces are dry.
Do we need to leave the house?
For most general treatments, no. We'll ask you to keep everyone out of the treated rooms until they're dry, usually a couple of hours.
What about fish tanks and birds?
Cover fish tanks and switch off the pump, and move birds to another room or outside before we start. We'll remind you when we book.
Are rodent baits safe with a dog in the yard?
We use lockable bait stations that pets and children can't open, placed where they're out of the way.
Can you use low-toxicity options?
Yes. Gels, dusts in wall cavities and targeted baits often work better than spraying everywhere. We'll suggest the gentlest option that will work.
Before we arrive
- Put pet food and water bowls away.
- Cover fish tanks and switch off the pump.
- Move birds to another room or outside.
- Clear the kitchen benches.
After the treatment
- Keep everyone out of treated rooms until surfaces are dry.
- Don't mop treated floor edges for a while.
- Expect to see a few pests for a short time as the treatment works.
